A relatively successful month for the stock market characterized by increasing of total trading volume and number of transactions, but with insignificant decreases in the prices section.

Thus, the total turnover of the Moldovan Stock Exchange (MSE) for May, gained during 276 transactions, was 11.47 million lei. It increased by 4.13 million lei as compared to April (when was registered a turnover of 7.3 million lei). However this figure remains below the levels recorded in earlier months, when its value vary between 20 and 40 million lei.

 
Number of transactions rose from just 257 to 276. Growth affected and the quantity of shares traded, which rose from the previous month from approx. 669 000 units to approx. 924 000 units. Important increases in volume and number of transactions were on buy and sell (interactive) segment and auction.

In May 2010 the largest transaction on the buy and sell segment was with Victoriabank shares. That transaction volume was 5 million lei, representing 43.6% of the total within that month.

The largest stock package of 34.85% was acquired from "Intreprinderea de colectare a vitelor și pasarilor din Dondușeni" (agricultural company). During the same period in MSE was only one public offering, this involved the shares Automototrans. The buyer in this case has received a stock of just 0.27%.

As a result of price reductions during the month, EVM Composite lost 19.5196 points, rated at 2146.6518 points at the end of the period. This decrease is relatively insignificant, representing only 0.9%. The biggest decrease of the Index happened exactly at the end of the month, on May 31, mainly because of Moldova-Agroindbank. But other shares as well had price fallings in that period - Cereale Prut, Peste, Piele, Furnizorul ABA, Fabrica de conserve din Glodeni, Cereale-CIM, Fitting.
